Help finding cheap sand

Gravel is better than sand unless you plan to have plants as well.

Ill have to disagree with this.

Depends on the stock but generally NO!

Sand doesn't trap crap in it like gravel does plus it looks much more natural and its easy to clean! I've had both, used to swear by gravel but sand all the way!

why dont you just do what alot of native fish keepers do and just take some sand from a lake?

Hmm I've used rocks for lakes before but never sand seems like a lot of work to save a few bucks. You said you don't want play sand but at 3 bucks for a 50 pound bag you can't beat it. I've not had a problem with it but I'm a newbie.
