m usualy VERY active 2-3" texas cichlid has all of the sudden
been hiding all day long, swimming jittery and scraping against rocks and i cant see anything vissably wrong with him,
i do water changes every week and id say the tank is understocked at its size

does anyone know whats going on`?

i dno, ive never tested them and ive kept fish for the last 7 years. i use well matured powerful external filters, bacteria from a mature system to start new tanks and weekly 25% waterchanges.
theres 2 other fish in the tank and they are both fine. the texas was the dominant guy and suddenly hes all hiding away

may be stressed and with parasites. Don't you see any sign of anything?

honestly no. and there is another cichlid in there. smaller and he likes to chase it.
so its not bullying issues.
i hope he dosn't die he was starting to colour up great
should i do the waterchange and see what happens? or has someones seen this before and knows whats going on?

i have no clue. usually when they scratch themselves it is due to parasites.

Have you tried to increase the temps and ad some salt to the tank?

no i havent but thats easily done, any particular type of salt?
how would this parosite have been introduced and is the salt and tempereature change going to kill it?
also what should i change the temperature to?

I don't check ammonia, etc. myself hardly if ever, but if a problem like this occurs, my first idea would be to get it tested

put in a table spoon of salt per 20 litres and the temp at 30º.. how is it?
