My flower chichlid has been healthy and active for 2 years now but, recently he has been looking ver sick. Before I tell you his symptoms please know he is under some stress because I recently moved and there has been lots of water changes/emptying of tanks etc. Also I recently switched foods from ionic flowerhorn pelots to tertra jumbo sticks.

Symptoms

1. not eating at all/showing no inteest in food for 4 days or so
2. staying in one spot in the tank or near the surface (plenty of oxygen in the tank)
3. bloated stomach/weak tail

I added medicine into the tank today thinking this may be dropsy (I do not see and "pinecone" fin affect. I treated with tetra fungus guard which is the only dropsy medication I could find. I also added pnd salt into my aquarium. I also think this could be parasites but, I have not noticed any stringy poop (havent been watching closely because I am in a hectic moving process). I ordered prazi pro tonight and will be ariving in 2 days. I really need some advice on this never had this problem before in all 5 years of fishkeeping.

You said a lot of tank emptying and water changes. Can you post parameters. Has the fish been exposed to any new tank mates? This could be water and stress related. I wouldn't add meds until you have some idea what you're treating for.

It is a 55 gallon fish tank with a 4 inch flowerhorn separated which is his child and has lived in the same tank separated its hwole life

Have you tested the water?

Is the filter media aged? Do you think the tak could be cycling? Is there enough water movement, o2?

I have enough o2 in the tank by far. YES the filter media is aged as I have checked but, water changes are my only option right now because I dont have time to change (going to store on thursday ) Tank not cycling been active for 2 years

going to need to know water perams, water change schedule and the such, but right off hand sounds like a pouting fish.
