I lost my first piranha to a combination of flashing and a tapeworm. This one has been doing great eating like a pig and getting fatter, was real thin in the beginning. Did a wc about 5hrs ago he just flashed three times, I dont see ich but could it be, if so what do i do

BTW he is a 90gal full planted system. Id rather not use salt for that reason.

I dont want to lose this one too!!!

how much water did you change out? perhaps the temperature drop was too much and he was weaken by that reason...
if I were you, I'd up the temperature first and keep an close eye on it. add salt if necessary. loosing all the plants are not as bad as loosing the fish you like. set your priority right first, which is more important? your rhom (one with personality like this doesn't come by everyday) or your plants (which you can get almost everywhere)?

if u got a spare tank I suggest u use it. If u don't....and your fish gets worse, u gotta decide what is more important 2 u....fish or plant?

My EBJD has been flashing for two months (90G with a 24W UV sterilizer).. tried parasite tabs, methylene blue baths, and rid ich (all in a 20G hospital tank), but he keeps doing it occasionally and shows no other symptoms... not trying to threadjack, i'm interested to know what it might be as well.

Flashing doesn't necessarily equate to parasites and certainly not death. A little flashing [suddenly ''scratching'' itself on substrate or other objects.] is normal and to be expected.

I'd treat your fish with Jungle Labs Parasite Clear or equal medication and just observe.
