i have been having a 50 gal in my room for half a year with no problem. recently i have noticed mosquito larvae and mozzies hanging around the tank. also there are lots of these tiny kinda triangular shaped flies sticking to the sides. the tank is in the room so its quite, if not VERY annoying. and its no because of the lights cos i only turn them on while feeding. any way of killing these insects? could it be because of the water?? anyone has any similar experiences???

do you do water changes? perhaps try aiming the output of your filter to the surface so that there is surface agitation. mosquito don't like that

never had such a problem

i use HOB filters and at least a 20percent water change a week. there is alot of surface agitation but its seems that its the corners that i find those damn wrigglers. and about those other flies, are they attracted to water?? thanks

Yes, many midges and flies are attracted to water and some lay there eggs there. add mosquitfish if you can, screen the tank if you can, and add a couple small powerheads set at angles to swirl the surface of the water aroung in a circle to break surface tension in the corners.

mosquito fish: die mosquitos!

i keep peacock bass! any mosquito fish will be annihalated immediately! haha so i guess the option would be the powerheads?
