HELP!! flies!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmm they might be breeding in the filter material eh. noticed there are more hanging around the filter, gonna check the filter soon. its just weird that theres this sudden boom of bugs in the tank as the parameters have been stable. no bug zappers for me heh, thanks for the suggestion though

I am having the same problem now. I normally do 25% water changes, but I think I will do 50% tomorrow. I guess I will check my filter media closely. Are there any other suggestions on how to get rid of these pests?

Most people want live food for fish.... is it really a problem?

They are not mosquitos, they are like little tiny knats or something. The larva do look like mosquito larva though. Its not a problem just annoying. They are tiny, so unfortunately the fish do not eat them.

hey ditto that shark addict. my peacocks and silver dollars dont eat the tiny flies. theyre harmless but just annoying and if i dont kill them they might multiply and next thing i know the room will be filled with flies. any more suggestions? thanks

Increase surface agitation as much as you can and clean your filter media. Find how they would get inside your room and eliminate the source from there.

Halfbeaks work pretty well. They go crazy on the smallest of flies.

The halfbeaks would get eaten upon releasing them into the tank, so that wont work. I guess I will go pick up some powerheads soon.
