Hi. I just bought my flowerhorn. He is estimated 3.5inches long. He is almost 3 months old. After 5 days, I noticed that his front Kok is deformed. It is not like this when I bought him. He used to have a ball shaped kok. He is active and has great appetite. No signs of disease or wound. Could this be permanent?

Probably stress-related from switching tanks/new environment. He may be adjusting to a new diet as well. What are you feeding?

He should bounce back soon. If the problem persists, try stimulating him by adding some tank decor or dithers/target fish. Just make sure they are disease free as well. Mirror time also works ime.

I pud mirror for about 3 mins a day, he is responsive. His diet is okiko platinum, and i boosted it with sakura gold.. Feeding him 2x a day.. Hopefully he is still in his settling period in his new tank.. Thanks for the reply, quite a relief

Try some frozen bloodworms. He should go nuts for those.

Maybe also try to build him something to defend from the intruder (mirror). Could just be a log or a rock cave or something like that. Ive noticed these fish are intelligent and enjoy stimulation. I catch my flowerhorn picking up shells and moving them around his tank all the time lol.
