Hi, new to this site but I am here to ask for advice. My tank has been running for around 3-4 months but 6 weeks ago the water turned green why is this? and how can I sort it?

Another thing I have spotted in the tank on the surface of the water and around the top of the tank a very very small red mites/insect that can jump. Any ideas?

Sorry if I have posted in wrong area.

probably cuz its in direct sunlight. thats algae blooms from algae. get a pleco but first get rid of some fish. thats a lot of fish for that tank.

+1. Can you give a better description of the insect? For now I have to guess that its mosquito fries.

Getting a pleco will just further overstock your tank, since it'll be responsible for a large new amount of ammonia. Get rid of some fishes and get proper shading for your tank.

The insects look like small spiders in a way but they are very very small only just big enough to see with the eye. They walk and jump around the top of the tank on the glass

I know the tank is overstocked but dont think this will cause the water to go green. I have had tanks in the same position for a number of years and never had this problem before.
