Help from the Umbee guys, please. Sex? Possible location?

It kind of does look female. Where did you get it? Where are you located? That fish isn't giving any signs to be able to specify which location it is but since I havent seen anyone collect, talk about bringing in other location besides umbeeking, my bet is its just a Rio mag. If you want honesty ill give it to you but be warned I can be brutal and very critical;) but that would just be my opinion and I'm not looking to hurt any feelings.

Why brutal and critical, Jason ?Shoot, in any case.

I am located across the big dipper, and this is, most certainly, the only Umbee hereabouts....
 
I only say that cause I can come across insensitive and critical. I tend to speak my mind without censoring my mouth which I do apologize for, but I do call it as i see it. Most if the time when I comment and someone doesn't like what I have to say I hear trash like its because I think I have the best fish.. and if they're not like mine then they're not good and etc. Which is not the case. I do have nice fish but not the nicest. There's always somethin nicer out there and thats just how it is. You asked for the umbeehoods opinion and ill give it to you straight. It does suck that you don't have many options where your at. So if you want to experience an umbee then keep this one until you find the one you want. Like me, I'm in search for somethin great. Which is why I've sold and gone thru so many. And right now I've got some lil ones that I've created from Rio mag (general) line to my location x male from umbeeking. And I honestly believe that ill find the one I've been looking for in that group:) if not oh well, the search continues lol. So yeah I say hang on to this one, even if it does turn out to be female. At least that way when you do find the "one" you'll be ready for it.

I still say female and as far as recognizing location just by looks... Really isn't gonna happen. The odds are its one from the Rio mag since they're very abundant. The other locations to my knowledge were only collected by umbeeking and i would like to think that if you got your hands on any of those, that you would know.
 
Thanks Jason. i fail, however, to see the brutality you mentioned in your previous post.
This is the only Umbee in my country and was imported directly from Colombia, being a F0 from Rio Magdalena ( i spoke with the importer in the meantime ).

She grows very quickly, takes the big Midas' s in stride , BUT on this big set up of mine I really want only males. Also, from what I have studied in the forum, female Umbees have nothing so special about them compared to males.

So i really do not see any point in keeping her, having nothing to cross her with. And, not being a wet pet, i do not think i should keep her solo..

Still new to umbees and trying to learn myself, but from what I have seen I completely agree with freshwaterpredator
 
Well bro there might be a collecting trip on the horizon and a possibility of having a small shipment get sent your way directly instead of comin to US first. But we'll have to discuss all that on the side;)
