Help getting Peacock eels to eat!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Been trying blood worms with my new peacock eel since thats what Petsmart said he ate. I haven't seen him eat one yet. He's been very active swimming for like an hour at a time. I assume this a water quality issue so I'll be doing a water change in the morning. In the meantime, I've not seen him eat the blood worms, I've not seen him eat scraps of flake food that fall to the bottom, and I've not seen him eat the tadpoles I caught the other day. He did "sniff" the flakes and tadpoles though. I'm going to get a zucchini and try that. Also, I got a bait worm I can cut up so I'm sure something can be done. Any suggestions beyond what's here and from where I stand?

Thanks.

Mine will only eat frozen worms and frozen brine. I also do feed live compost and earth worms and the eels live with livebearers and feed on their fry. They can be picky eaters and have been known to pick a favorite food and refuse all else. They also really appreciate deep sand to hide in.
