I would suggest upping the water changes, I always do 50% each week just to be safe

Water isnt usually the expensive portion of my DWP bill. Of an avg $800 for 2 months, MAYBE $100 of it is water. I live in a house with 5 adults, we all have at least 2 computers, thats where the money gets you.

I change out around 80% weekly on my 450g, 50% on my 120g and 55g, and around 75% on my 210.

Water changes come with the hobby. Monsters cost money.

May I suggest that you consider the following, and do one of the two things immediately:

1) Purchase PURIGEN. It is a very, very effective filtration media that is reusable. It will have immediate positive effects on your situation.

2) Implement a plant component to your set-up, even if it is temporary. The plants will help both short term and long term. There are many threads and posts about their use.


If you do nothing else, buy the Purigen and use it while you sort out your filter and water issues. Consider it a lifejacket of sorts till you identify and correct your issues.
