HELP GT is terrorizing everything

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I figured it out..... Every time i raise the temp in the tank, the GT goes in heat. I think this is why shes soo agressive. She even looks darker.

It would live easily in there without the RBP and Oscar. Impending cramping. But a GT could do in a 55g almost for life. A 75g would probably be minimum for its entire life though.

I had the same problem except mine was 8" in a 125 gallon 6' aquarium.
He wouldn't let any fish come out of hiding w/o chasing back & fourth & would even go find them just to chase around. That GT wanted the whole tank to himself.
I let this go on for a week or two, weighed my options, & rehomed him. It wasn't an easy decision, I raised him from aprox 1.5" long. Money was tight this year, I couldn't afford larger & or additional quarters. It's peaceful now that he's been rehomed.
tank stock was...
1jack dempsey 8"
1ViejaSynspilum 9"
1texas cichlid 4"
2firemouths 4.5"
1 Polypterus delhezi 10"
4 pictus catfish 4"
5 giaint danio 5"
& one
1gold saum 8"..........good luck to you w/ your GT, hope you find away to keep it.

Just a update. I got home yesterday and everything was back to normal. All my fish are getting along again. But I noticed my oscar had ick, probably from being stressed. So I am treating the oscar in another tank now.

Also, I bought these ugly giant danios. I put them in the tank anyways. If they don't keep the peace, i am returning them.

These Giant Danios has failed. The GT is still harassing all the other cichlids and doesn't even bother with the dithers. I have decided to find them a better home.
