So here is my flowerhorn story, My flowerhorn was just swimming so jolly like it bumps the glass when he sees me coming to feed him and now i noticed that there are white, 2cm in size and thread like worms around the aquarium and then so it was my school days so what i did was just transfer him to a a 3.5 gal container and put the oxygen in too but the badest news was that it was thursday then my classes ends at 12 noon of saturday so i let it go for the day to come but the container i used was gettin dirty so i made a 25 percent water change with the flowerhorn in and then so he was tiltly swimming but then i started adding water like just using a 2liter pitcher so that the pressure won't be that much but then after the water change it started to swim downwards and started to float like its belly is at the surface of the water and then he goes back swimming normally again so i didn't mind it but at the next day i was late for the class and then so never had a chance to see him if he was fine an

Putting a large fish like a Flowerhorn in a 3 gallon container is never a good idea. I'm no expert, but I would think that you should put it back in the main tank or get a bigger (maybe 20 long or 40 breeder) hospital tank. Did you move the filter over to the small container?

yeah, I also thought of that thou i don't have any other resources than a 3 gal. container. And my moms out of town so i don't have any money left.. And about your question, I really did when he got the whitish ball like beside its eye. I really am so sorry about my flowerhorn :( i was being so careless HUHU :(

If it's not too late, you can go down to a walmart or some place like that and buy one of those 100 liter plastic containers. They're usually around $10-20. They make great emergency tanks. But from there I have no idea what to do. We're going to have to wait for some more knowledgeable people to chime in.

ohhhh yeah havent thought of that :) and thank you for the info but by the way I'm really at CEBU CITY so I'm at Philippines :)

by the way is it okay to put some vaseline petrolium jelly for the wounds of my flower horn fish that is exposed at the surface of the air?

Your description of what's going on is difficult to understand, pics could help. More info. would also help for instance water parameters, tank size, size of flowerhorn, how long you've had him, kind of filtration, feeding schedule and what kind of food? The thread worms may have been totally harmless you should've asked about that before moving the flowerhorn. They could simply be planaria from overfeeding.

so that the pressure won't be that much but then after the water change it started to swim downwards and started to float like its belly is at the surface of the water and then he goes back swimming normally
What do you mean pressure? And from the reaction your flowerhorn had it sounds like shock from the water being too hot, cold, the parameters being way off the water he's in or toxic shock to me.

I really did when he got the whitish ball like beside its eye. I really am so sorry about my flowerhorn :(
You just mentioned this out of the blue, when did it happen before you moved him or after? Is the ball inside his eye or near his eye? Like makes it hard to tell from the description. What does it look like? Is it fluffy perhaps a fungus? Is it like a grain of salt maybe Ich?

by the way is it okay to put some vaseline petrolium jelly for the wounds of my flower horn fish that is exposed at the surface of the air?
You said he was swimming normally how are the wounds exposed at the surface of the air? Why would you use Petroleum jelly for a wound? You could possibly use a triple antibiotic like neopsorin but without seeing or more info. I'm hesitant to recommend anything.

Thank you koltsixx but my flower horn already passed away at 9:45 pm :( I buried him already too :( and the good news is that he has 3 babies, before he got so sick :) so what I am going to do now is try to take good care of his babies .. but I am still so sad about my first flower horn pet :(

really don't have the paraphernalia that could help me identify the water parameters and I am still lack of materials so now i will buy a lot of it and can you please mention what are those materials? tank size? I really forgot I'll measure it again but all I know is that its a 40 gallon tank, my flower horn size is approximately 7-8 inches long and 5 inches tall I guess, I had him for 1 yr and 9 mos, i feed him with humpyhead pellets, what do you mean by what kind of filtration?

I meant by pressure is that i was refilling the quarantine container I have because I was changing water for a bit, hmmm yeah i could really been like that ....

the ball like thing is like is the 1st thing that he got sick thats why i treated him for 3 days and the ball like thing was gone.

Yes, he did swam normally after i treated him with rock salt or aquarium salt to be exact but at the next day when i checked him out after my class he was floating at the corner of the tank and he was upsidedown so thats why part of his body was exposed on the surface and got wounded thats why i am asking a question if it is okay to put some petroleum jelly?

I'm really sorry to hear he passed. Can I ask where did these 3 babies come from? You bred him with a female before his passing and only 3 fry survived?

Typically when keeping fish one uses water test kits to make sure the water is safe for the fish. One such kit is the API Master Kit http://www.amazon.com/API-Freshwater-Master-Test-Kit/dp/B000255NCI
It will allow you to test for Ph, Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite. Humpy Head is an average pellet and is okay but you might be able to find better for cheaper with a little research. Filtration is what you use to keep the aquarium waters Nitrites and Ammonia under control and you use water changes to keep Nitrates under control. Filters can be HOB(Hang On Back) here's an example- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+14448&pcatid=14448
Canister- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+3580+26262&pcatid=26262
Sumps and Fluidized Bed Filters to name a few of the top of my head.

You didn't mention it as the cause for treatment you mentioned worms first as the reason for moving him. Again a better description and pics would help, so if you ever face an issue with disease again please try to be more descriptive and use pictures so we can help you as best as we can. As for using Petroleum Jelly I said it last time I don't know why you would use it on your fish. Petroleum Jelly is used as a lube and as far as treating an injury at best it serves to soothe burn and the like as far as I know. You would be better served using a Triple Antibiotic like I said in my last post for an injury but Again I wouldn't suggest it without knowing more.
