HELP HELP: Fish have Cloudy Eyes AND!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry, I didn't mean to come on so strong. In my experience, cloudy eyes come from bad water. And bad water comes from too many fish or owners who don't enjoy water changes. If none of that is your case, then I really have no idea how to help. Tell me what you did to fix it. Thanks

my water is fine. i tested everything and its in the norm

Just outa curiousity, what do you consider "normal water parameters"? Also good to hear you figured what the problem was, care to share it with anyone else what you did to cure the cloudy eyes so quickly?

i have a very bad case of bactieral deciese. i used mardel meds to fix it and it will take up to 5 days. lets all pray my fish pull through this

what do you think caused it? Did you add any fish recently?

yes i added fish last sunday and they died the next day. i treated my tank with ick because i thought it was ick. it had the signs of ick. i guess i was wrong. the lady who gave me the fish wont do a thing about it either.

If the fish you added to your tank had signs of ich, then why would you add them to the tank. What kind of fish were they. Fish don't die instantly from ich. Seems odd.

it was irresdant sharks and they died with in 24 hrs and the other died in 3 days. they didnt have the signs of ick trust me. i dont know what happened really. im guessing that

I guess I'm confused, there is only one sign of ich. I was trying to help you with your sitsuation. Seems you just blindly throw medications into your aquarium maybe you think that multiple meds will have no ill effects on your fish. Not sure why you would add 2 ID sharks to a tank that already can't house the fish you have. Good luck with your fish, I hope they survive thier current ailment and current keeper.

Water params are not always the sign of cloudy eyes. My 6" bala shark had it because I swiped his eye out of the water with my finger to get dirt off after he jumped. He had puffy white eyes for about 3-4 days, then all returned to normal.

No, but this is a whole tank full of fish that have it. That points to bad water quality. Not positively, but I'm skeptical when someone won't post their parameters *shrug*.

idle0095, you need to post your water parameters. What you think is good may not be as good as you think. You should also know your pH and if possible kH, gH and total disolved solids. You should know whether the pH in your water is stable or whether it fluctuates. It's very important to measure your pH daily or even more than once a day when you set up a tank to make sure it it's stable, and then test periodically to make sure it's normal.

All of these factors can contribute to stress in fish. Tanks full of sick fish really isn't that common when water quality is good, especially when it affects multiple species. In good water quality most fish can fight off infections. You can treat and eliminate the problem for awhile, but without figuring what stressed the fish in the first place it can come back repeatedly and you will end up in a losing battle.
