In both bubblesticks, the bubble looks like it's closer to the left indicating that the left side of the tank is higher than the right side. Measuring the height difference of the water on the left vs. the right side is also an accurate way of determining whether the tank is level. Have you tried to level it out yet?

trying, but I cant stick anything in under the tank nor the stand...

it looks level in your tool because its so short use a longer level and you will see more if a difference
Id sugest emptying the tank and getting it right before you fill it up again it will save you loads of time and money in the long run

hate to tell ya, but in order to shim that bad boy you will HAVE to drain that tank. a 1/2 inch difference is huge over time, it will twist the tank and you will end up with a busted tank. you need to do it right. drain it down so that you only have a few inches, get a dolly or a strong friend to help hold up the end of the tank and shim it so that its as close to level as you can get. fill it back up and see what happens.

id hate to see your tank bust (full of fish) just because you didnt want to drain and shim it.. btw LFS's arent always correct, and dont always (though some do.. ) know what they are talking about. the foam helps the glass settle down on the stand but wont level out a stand that isnt level..

ok ok.. *takes a deep breath* I guess the cichlids are going to spend some time with my datnoid.

Time to count down of the 15 five gallon buckets

So you're sure there's no drain in your basement? Also, 5 bucks at a hardware store will buy you what you need to hook your garden hose up to your sink. Save your back.

do you have a sink downstairs in the basement? where does your clothes washer drain? you could get a python, add an extension to it from the upstairs sink and drain/fill that way like Tommy says.. its what i did for a while with my 180 until i had a sink installled in the basement..

The laundry room is in the first floor (garage level), and my python is only 25ft long, I roughly estimate from the sink to the tank around 50ft :wall: and I just spend a little over $150 on a new coralife light and $40 on a 6" electric blue peacock male, 4 taiwan reef, 1 sp.44 and 2 yellow fin cichlid for my work's tank  so Im a little short on buying another hose :wall:

Try prying the drain open with a flathead screwdriver or something. Then you could at least drain it quickly. And about filling it, hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Please don't fall down the stairs carrying a 5g bucket of water!

Electric blue peacock...awesome fish.
