My tilapia buttikofferi is alone in his own tank. I noticed today he has a big deep gash in his head right above his eye, my guess is something startled him and he smashed his head into the filter intake. Im a bit worried about him, so how do I go about healing this?
I just did a water change an added stress coat and some salt anything else I should be doing?

Can you post a picture? Possibly HITH? What are your parameters? You already added salt so make sure the water is in pristine conditions.

Like Rox Rox stated pristine water conditions will help heal.

Yea that's definitely from ramming into something. If it's something you can remove so he won't ram into it again do so. Fish are typically fast healers as long as the water quality is fine. He should recover fairly quick.

The tank is completely empty just a heater and 2 filter intakes with extentions so they get closer to the floor. I think I'll take off the extensions so he doesn't ram into them again
