help how do to cool tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
put a big coil of copper tubing in a min fridge and pump your tank water through it:grinyes:
Plastic, NOT copper tubing. Copper in the water, especially if water is soft/slightly acidic can cause birthdefects in live bearers and sterile eggs in egglayers. It is also hard on inverts.
Or just air condition the room

The sad thing is the room is air conditioned. But I just got a new a/c for my bedroom but I usually keep the door open to help cool the living room and kitchen. I guess me and the fish will live in my room with the door shut when it gets hotter.

Guppies can tolerate up to 84 F.

i confused. what is the problem. I raised guppies outside in Thailand in 100 degree heat in in the sun in shallow vats and inside in 100 degree heat (but not in sun ) in small pans. I keep guppies outside in my water garden and that water gets 90 degrees.

And I guarantee you my place gets hotter than Arkansas and we don't use A/C and never had any problem with my tanks getting into high 80's during the day.

Well everyone says they are not suppose to get hotter than 82 degrees and in Arkansas were I live it got to 111 degrees last summer and I live in a trailer were it is hotter inside than outside most the time. But I think since I got the new a/c for my room it may stay a little cooler.
Yesterday my tank got to 80 and it was just 90 degrees yesterday.

Copper glazes over after a short period of time, partially why it's used for potable water. Copper in suspension ( or cleated? ) in water I can agree with, but once pipe is glazed over there is no leaching. Plastic pipe's heat transfer rate sux, plastic/poly are insulators, better to blow the a/c on the tank ;) , maybe create little icebergs
