I'm after a black barred pacu, the one that gets 16 inch! Trouble is when I search online I keep getting mixxed results on the fish profiles of a silver dollar typ that maxes out at 7.5inch and the bigger dude... My lfs lists a 4inch specimen on their website which I'd like to collect tomorrow but how do I tell which one it is? Help anyone?

On that link there's some larger barred pacu type fish, what's their latin name? I'm sure I saw a huge one on another vid on youtube but I can't find it now?

Comon ppl?

In that video I saw black barred silver dollars, where were the pacu?

Yes they are also called black eared pacu. Just a common name and have never seen a silver dollar that big. Seriously doubt there are pocket pacu, no matter how bad you want there to be. Will wait to hear from some of the pacu experts but don't expect much.

Yes, those are silver dollars, Myleus schomberki. In the USA, those fish are not considered pacu. Pacu is a common name, and as such has no particular rules to how its applied. As I said though, in the USA those fish are not generally considered pacu, but to call them pacu isn't exactly wrong. Under normal circumstances, the name pacu is normally used in the United States to describe fish from the genera Piaractus and Colossoma.

O on that link its saying they hit 16inchs? Is that a load of ball?
