got it from aquabid cyprinid section,im sorry hope you dont mind, i saw them at pets+ and was really interested in what they are. how large have you had them get?
just by looking at the mouth you can tell its not a FW 'cuda. the mouth on this barb is very small. however in that pic of the 'cuda, its mouth is easily more than half the size of the head.
Your buddy was right on the puntius species. Mine that I have gotten are all small about 2 inches as in the picture. Research says they can get 8-10 inches plus and look pretty good. They stay low to the bottom and always search for food. Very cool little fish. What were they selling for at Pets+
A simple way to tell cyprinids (which this barb belongs to) from characins (that the 'cuda belongs to) is the fact that characins have an adipose fin, cyprinids don't.
