help,i have a fly problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had the same problem but the flys that were reproducing in my tank were diffrent. There would be like aton of dead ones on the water surface. They would reproduce and I would see little larva(they look like little red worms) swimming in my tank. There were also little hollow tubes that these worms lived in. I solved my bug problem by sealing all openings were they could get in, especiall the filters which I think they use as a place to reproduce. Now I hardly see these guys around my tank anymore.

i thoght i had same prob in my house, turned out tho the guy next door dosnt pick up the dog doooodoooo, so they would come in the door when i went outside, i would never see them come in but i would be like where they coming from, i would killa ton of them next day come home, and there is more, so look outside maybe thats where there coming from

maybe, but i cant figure out where they are coming from
its like i kill everyone in the house
then the next day i have that many again
they breed and hatch that fast it seems
:irked:

are they tiny and stay tiny?
cus the ones in the pix are about the biggest ive seen

yes looks like fruit flies to me to ;)

Usually a fruit bowl left out too long and once they are established.. they tend in my experience to be able to live on dead plant matter as well.. Look for fruit in my opinion to start with... You will know when you find the source!! You will know ;)

You will touch it and 10-200 will come up :D :irked: Then you take that source and get rid of it... No guarantees

ya I agree on the fruit flies....

once they have started they multiplies like mad and are a pain to get rid of, they start off small then eventually get bigger.

I had a problem like this last year, I would recommend putting up some fly tape. you best chance is to eliminate the mature flies so they cannot reproduce and eventually they will all be dead...

worked for me, also try some bug spray.

Killing the adults, keeps them from making babies. The adults are the source..

If they are fruit flies then keeping food waste out/covered will help. I have a clever child put orange peels in the dispos-all & didn't run it.. has a huge problem,, kept the wast to a minimum. kept the fresh fruit in the fridge & hung papers.. all went bye-bye

yup fruit files we had the same problem they would find friut and breed but flypaper gets rid of the the best.

Fruit flys? Aren't fruit flys smaller? I need to look up a pic.

throw a few mosquito fish in your tanks. those little guys are like nature's exterminator!!!

Or sushi, depending on your tank.

I'd just release a couple o' daddy long legs' into your house.
