  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i do not have problem with floating poops..its the heavy poops im getting tired of :P
netting it is doable but i will run out of sand in the tank in no time with the frequency i have

I'm not talking about floating poo ... Whatever rests on the bottom is easily picked up with a net for me... Just need to be gentle. ..

it looks i have all thumb or dont have the patient to scoop that heavy poops without scooping atleast half tea spoon of my sand. did i mentioned i have bigger than average net too LOL

i just realized i have old cannister filter from stone age called oddysea CFS4 thats leaks but has working motor!!
time to to some modification to make me boosted poop ejector LOL

I never need to use siphon to remove waste. You should have strong enough current so the waste does not settle. U need more filtration Dayak, ESP cause your arro is growing big now.

When I had my old 100 g , I ran a eheim 2260, 2080 pro 3 and an fx5.
The fx5 was a mechanical beast of filter, and the eheims provided all the BB I could need.

Now on the 6x3 I use the same 3 filters but next week I will add another fx5 that I have spare.
U should overfilter, get a bigger tank and you'll never have problems with excessive waste building up on tank bottom.

we are talking about poops at the buttom which are heavy, and no my tank dont have river like current, it has current but calm, soft current is all i have and it stays up to the middle only.
i did not go cannister route, i went with sump pump that i made myself along with overflows which btw im satisfy with its performance, it has turnover about 5200Lph turn over with 6 feet overhead.
filteration is not my problem..it was the big and heavy poop that stays on the sand and takes forever to vac out which is the downside of utilizing overflows.
just made the poop suction with old cannister filter mentioned previously.

in one phrase "get an fx5" like i have said before. the inlet is right off my natual sand gets all the poo and no sand. i have had the same exp with my black moon sand. you could used the added filtration and your poo issue is solved. but then again i don't have a clue when it comes to raising fish.

i solved the problem and tested the system i made and it works like a charm, i used my old cannister with couple type sponges in it and hook it up to my vac tube. and return the water to the tank.works like a charm and no dime spent :)
thanks to mavrick813 for giving me inspiration.
tuck the system away just like i would do once done. and hook up the vac tube and plug-in when needed, no shipponing and less work and cut the time more than half.

you planning on cleaning the poop out of the filter after each use?
