Help! I have never had a saltwater tank before 0_o

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll pay that, people do get some enjoyment with modding stuff. Fugies regardless, anythings better than nothing, even from your pod population standpoint. Although down here, a fuge by functional definition volume wise can be as large as the sump.

Ok I have 2 Secondnature Whisper Power Filter 3's on the tank, Exactly what is a fuge and how do I make them? And once I find a pic of a little sculpin goby looking thing that I catch in florida that are around 5" I'll post that and hopefully get a positive I.D. and to know wether I can keep it in the aquarium or not.

I also catch some that have the same pattern but are more of a picish color, they do have teeth as well.

Here is an example of a modded HOB to make it into a fuge. A fuge, or refugium, is a way to use macro algaes to naturally reduce nitrates, as well as promote growth or copepods or live mysis if you choose to add those to your system.

Since you have two HOBs, you could do one modded and the other one would be ran as usual with mechanical fliter pad and some sort of biofiltration as well. Im not real familiar with the HOBs you posted, so I cant go into too much detail.

badASS! Its a little ghetto...Im sure we could do better, but I have a hankerin to dig out some HOB filters from the basement now.

Since we dont want to start the fight over tank size again, Ill say this. If you would put a similar sized freshwater fish in that 30g tank, you can put the same sized SW fish in that tank.

Enjoy, and lets see some pictures!
