Help I need somebody.. (not just anybody)

Just remeber if you are cycling with this one and you want to switch you will have to run the 2 filters until the new filter is seeded (about a week or 2). Otherwise your starting over with the cycle.

Depending on bio load, you should be cleaning/serviceing the filter every month. But with a lightly stocked tank you MAY get away with 3 months. I wouldn't leave it more then that. Keep a close eye on your nitrates and when they are getting high even with good size water changes you need to clean the filter.
 
Don't buy a new filter, those are perfectly fine. They barely take up any space at all. You should see the size of the sponge filter in my tank.. Its about the size of my head.
 
Ok lads you've convinced me to go with what I've got, it does make sense financially too, cos it's what i got already.

lol yourockit.... the little tubish thing, I'm not so sure what it is, it's made my rena and called a 'filstar M1') I bought it 2nd hand so not sure where it came from, but when I tried to look it up online, all related topics/links are in Norwegian or Ababic! I have no idea how powerful it is or what sort of tank it's made for, but it's kinda small so probably not a 3ft'er I'm guessing....
