HELP! I THINK MY ARO ATE MY CKF!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for the back to back posts. I got him out a cpl of minutes ago. Had to watch the aro he looked like he was ready to head for the carpet (don't they know they'll die outta water).

Anyway I had to push him a little through the whole he musta swam in through. He's got a little mark on the top of his head but other than that and a little fast breathing right now (stress) he seems no worse for wear. I'll add a lil extra salt with today's water change and see how he does over the next day or so.

thanks for all the help. I couldnt believe how the other 2 lil fella coulda eaten him. The root he has in is tall and that spot is always outta the water during water changes he certainly would have died today. Thanks again, I didnt want to loose this fish!

Do you have an external canister filter??????-is is possible there's no guard on the intake? I lost a clown loach and blamed my aro, a week later I went to clean my canister filter and the little dude was swimming around fat and happy. So then the aro ate him. And the next one. And the next one. So I quit trying for clown loaches........Another time an angelfish (gross) don't know how, shot up my intake to my biowheel when I was cleaning and it was well, auger like results. So the aro and other angel swam around gulping meat chunks. I'm was just whining cause I didn't have a boyfriend I could make deal with the gore-it WAS GROSS My angelfish hang out around the intake still. 4 mos later I think he's still waiting for his buddy to come back out. I hope there's good results with your clown knife.

I once lost a large silver aro to a tank ornament. One of his tank mates swam through, and he followed and got stuck. I didn't find him until the next morning. Ever since I use only real wood.

I pulled the root out of this tank and now I'm boiling a real piece of maylasian rootwood to replace it with. I will only use real decos from now on with the exception of plants.

I'm sure glad this fish didnt die

The Malaysian wood is great! I've had one for months, it'll drop the ph and allow tanin if you reduce charcaol in filters, you might actually see the tanin, depends on filtration. Almond Tree leaves (ebay-from Singapore like $5.00 for 20 (good price) work even better , they calm the fish, have natural healing qualities the water does change to amber and is makes fish very shall we say "amorous" if you want to breed. It calms the aro's to a significant and noticeable degree.

ahhhhhhhh a spider just dropped from my ceiling onto my keyboard ick arachnaphobia
gotta go kill something here,
