As the title says, I think my beani has bloat. So far there's no White poop, but he hasn't eaten since I got him on Dec 27th. I've tryed 3 different pellets, krill and even a guppy just to see if he would eat. All failed. As of now I'm doing 50% water changes every other day, 1 tbsp aq. salt per gallon, and I just started clout today. I didn't feel that I had the time to wait for a shipment of Metro. The temp is currently at 82, but I'm going to bump it up to 84 today. Keep in mind that I have an FX5 on his 60 gallon and there is a lot of O2 going through his tank. The parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite, and a ph of 7.2. Any advice other than what I'm doing is greatly appreciated. It'd be a shame to loose such a beautiful fish from the hobby. Thanks guys.

Have you tried what the fish was eating before you got him?

Is this the beani from rapps??? ...... for bloat i would go to CVS or Wallgreens and get Epsom, Salt that helps with bloat.

good luck.

Nope, but thanks for the heads up bro. I didn't want to risk waiting a couple of days for me to get some metro in, so I went with clout. I didn't realize there was a difference between the epsom salts and aquarium salt. I'm doing another big water change right now and am going to substitute the epsom instead. I think I'll use clout at a lower recommended dosage until I see further symptoms. I added one of my small JK fh's to the tank as a dither and for competition for food. Hopefully I'll get him eating. Keep you guys posted. But, in the meantime let me know if you guys have any other advice. Am I jumping the gun? I'm sure you could understand my "non-hesitant" attitude regarding my prize fish. Thanks again everyone.

I put this in Disease and Health, with a redirect for two weeks, so it will appear in both places.

55-60% water changes every other day and an FX5 on a 60 gallon. No risks with a beani.

It doesn't matter how big your filter is, you will still end up with nitrate in a healthy system. There is no denitrification available to you, just nitrification.

Zero nitrate would make me "test" my test kit!
