I have a lot of water critters, that habitat my algae scrubber. I don't have any problems. I want to know their correct names.
So far I have Daphnia, paraciums, tube flex worms, routifers, hydra, and an occasional caddis fly.

....are they aquatic? can they swim too? I'd just brush them all into a tank with fry or small fish lol. but as to your question, no clue what they are lol.

I think this is the mature adult. 1/16" .
The larvae in the first picture can water skip, 1 inch hop strides for 4" in half a second.

I think they have a , larva worm stage. Like a caddis fly. I use 3 algae scubbers. My water fall scrubber is easiest to observe. It's a microbial zoo.

Possibly thrips?
I think your right. After reading about them. A water adaptation, of a terrestrial bug.
My guess is they were eating green growing moss and algea. In picture will a pile of them. That is my floating feed ring, with specs of un eaten fish food.
They are very effective at water skipping. Any floating algea or food would be easy pickings.
