For those who struggle to catch fast , agile , or substrate diving fish , especially in large tanks. I use an electric zapper with 2 metal poles that can be dialed up or down to temporarily stun fish
Would you recommend that over say clover oil in general?

Using clove oil to catch fish is a terrible idea, especially on large tanks/ponds, or wanting a specific fish (only). The dosage varies with fish species, fish size, time and fish reactions. Many of the air breathing fish tolerate clove oil.

The electro fisher is great when a fish is buried in mud - under rockwork- hidden in plants etc. Or very fast & agile. Only immobilising fish when a current is applied so you need to hold the on switch button down.

Can’t say I have ever tried the electric shock or clove oil methods, think I will stick to CrazyPhishMan’s two net method, it’s suited me for over forty years, despite no doubt taking longer. And of course as I now head into my second half century no doubt the fish will start making it take even longer still !

Yes, I use 2 nets too but even 1m wide nets aren't as effective for very fast fish. You can also try a gate net which is 2 rectangular frames with a hinge joint in middle. On a circular tank, just corral the fish into a smaller and smaller pie shape section by moving the sides closer and closer together. . On a rectangular tank, use as a straight fence initially, then bend as needed.

Do need to be careful, one large jumping fish broke my collar bone. Polarising sunglasses helps see through the surface glare.
