Help ID my texas cichlid please!

Hey guys, Ive searched and found that there are several types of Texas cichlid's and just need some help to ID mine.

Here's the first pic of him I took several months ago

dunno if its a texas. looks like a hybrid of some kind
 
Wow im surprised! I thought this whole time I've had a legit texas cichlid lol. I see a thai silk in him now that I looked them up, but Im wondering what the other half is?

It seems most likely that your fish is a cross of CA cichlids----at least that's what i think.

A Thai silk is a flowerhorn breed. It is the result of crossing different CA cichlids and then selecting for particular traits. But few, if any, 'flowerhorns' breed true----there seldom consistent. Some individuals express traits that are outside of what is suposed to be typical for the breed.

Individuals that express traits outside of what the breed is suposed to look like are often called 'low-grade'. A responsible breeder is suposed to cull these fry. Sometimes only a small % of a batch produces the desired characteristics.

Probably, it's just a tai silk expressing different traits (??). After all it's a cross of who knows what CA cichlids------the breeders don't devulge how they came to develope this strain. So guess away :D; there is no real way to know unless your the breeder that developed this strain.
