Thats what he will say
The other half might be ? might be some tex idk.but it probaly mixrd with more
It seems most likely that your fish is a cross of CA cichlids----at least that's what i think.
A Thai silk is a flowerhorn breed. It is the result of crossing different CA cichlids and then selecting for particular traits. But few, if any, 'flowerhorns' breed true----there seldom consistent. Some individuals express traits that are outside of what is suposed to be typical for the breed.
Individuals that express traits outside of what the breed is suposed to look like are often called 'low-grade'. A responsible breeder is suposed to cull these fry. Sometimes only a small % of a batch produces the desired characteristics.
Probably, it's just a tai silk expressing different traits (??). After all it's a cross of who knows what CA cichlids------the breeders don't devulge how they came to develope this strain. So guess away; there is no real way to know unless your the breeder that developed this strain.
Ya I see what you guys are saying. Pretty much impossible to tell the full breed since I am not the original breeder. However the guy's store I got him from said it's a texas, that's why I was a bit confused. Thanks for the input, now I at least know he's probably a mixed tai silk of some kind.
