I bout this FH about 2 months ago, he was about 1.5 inch, now he is about 3 or 4 inches. The label says it's a Golden Flowerhorn but i'm not sure because the color is not coming out as golden. So i wanted to know if you guys can ID this and also the SEX. Thanks

BTW, the scratch on it's head is due to hitting one of the rocks when it tried to hide when someone in the room ran to the tank.

really? I had no idea, i had been told that only males couple get them and that was why males were so highly valued.

There are plenty of females with decent sized koks. It is more common for males to have koks, but it shouldn't be used as the only factor in sexing Flowerhorns.

To be honest, as much as a male can be worth. Great quality females are harder to be found because they are mostly kept by breeders or kept by others for their own breeding purpose. No one dare to leak out a good female, and that include me also.
As far as head hump size dealing with the value, well...I'd say the head size puts about 50% of the fish value and quality. It's like a rim on a car. It can change the whole scene of it. :D

I have had plenty of nice females just from buying small fries 1-2" and raising them up.
