On the other hand, I totally agree with Pharaoh. They will spawn after spawn and it just goes on. If you don't want to have a big abundance of fry you should just leave the calvus to control the numbers of julie fry. But, if you want to grow out all the fry, then it's your choice to take the calvus out. Good luck with your decision.

tankmates: 1 female convict cichlid, 1 dwarf catfish(not sure what kind, in the process of id ing), 2 common plecos, 1 pictus catfish, 1 redtail shark, and the tank is 60 gallons.

 There will be a feast. All those fish listed will probably make food of your julie fry especially the cats. Did you take out the calvus by the way?

not yet but am going to.

that would be a good idea, I would take out the cats and the convict as well

what i'm going to end up with is a 60 gallon cube with julies only and nothing but a bunch of fry?

if you want to raise the fry then yeah. You could keep the Calvus in there to keep the amount in check, but with that list of fish you gave I would be surprised if any survived

i've just i d ed the dwarf cat fish synodontis polli. what if i catch as many fry as i can and raise them in a 10 gallon tank all by themselves ?

That would work, you should have a decent survival rate that way and then you could keep the fish you already have in the tank together.

The cats I'm not sure about though, I'm not familiar with the polli but I think all synodontis species breed the same way.........and if they start breeding you won't have any julie fry
