Help identify and grade Aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The cert says Super Red but I wasn't sure on how trustworthy it was. I've also heard that Super Red was very vague and that it includes Chili and Blood Reds. Is there a difference between the 3?

Ok, did some digging and found on MFK that, on a general consensus, Blood and Chili are part of the Super Red variety. They have been cross bred and so characteristics of both can be found in Super Red. Super Red excludes G2 reds. Thanks everyone for your input, more opinions/analysis is very welcomed.

Blood/Chilli/Super red are all just marketing names for Scleropages legendrei(G1 Red).

Chilli / blood is the same. They all come from indonesia. It is just the marketing name.

When you are saying chilli or blood, what do you have in mind?

Most of the red aro you come across are actually "dark orange arowana". With a little touch of red led light, then you get your "red arowana".

Best to judge the quality of red is to see it from white lamp.

This is my aro with a pink led

And this is him under white light

His color is not maxed out yet, overall he is just a 11 months old arowana. His orange scales will go broader and the color will get bolder.

And this is my other aro.. is this what you mean with chilli red?

To clarify I've found someone who wants to sell me his Red Aro for a price I can not resist but It's not good enough to be G2. Im not looking particularly for a Chili or Blood red. Just don't want to get scammed.
