Help Identify fish caught in OCMD

Hummmm..... I think you may be right it does look alot like a croaker though

I can buy the Amberjack, with the line through it's eye. The barring looked a little off to me, but I haven't caught one in a while. I really need to get the boat out more.

As far as the Redfish, definitely one of those, and the croaker that you see is in the same family, so they do look very similar, but the black spot, as noted before, is the giveaway.

Its a croaker and that is a guarantee...

Catch them every summer

and you should catch more reds there. i catch them this far north to. they will school and migrate

humm... I think you are right about the jack but i still think thats a croaker and not a red

the fish in this pic is a golden croaker the one in the first post is a red fish aka red drum same family as croakers are in

i have fished in Ocean City my whole life and i can difinativaly say the first one is a croaker. Case settled.

The first is definitely a red drum (redfish sciaenops ocelatus). The second fish is a member of the jack family that i think is a banded rudderfish. It looks like a small amberjack, but there are a few differnces.

Sorry for the extra late follow up guys, lol. I caught another one last summer again in September, 2012. It's a Redfish.
