help IDing 2 snakeheads

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi,Brucki........

Striata has the stripes on the belly mostly!

But if it is stressed there are stripes on the back ,too!

It also has an Ocellus in juvenile Age...and red eyes!

But never a red band around the fins!

That was the way we could easily seperate them, when we catched striata and gachua in the same habitat in Thailand!

Here are some pictures of my little Baby striata from India !

Cheers.......

the snakeheads are looking much better today..and there r some faint stripes on the gachuas back....
the one in the first pic (kerela 5 stripes) has stripes starting from his tummy and go all the way around till the other side....

they are still hiding....

i shifted them to a barebottom tank (60 gallon) i will be furnishing the tank with gravel and plants and lots of driftwood soon....

thanks a lot everyone :)

Hi,Crazyforcrabs...........

No, I do not hink so!

Because in the picture you can see a red band in tip of the dorsal fin and also in the caudal fin!

Channa stewartii and Channa striata do not have this red band!
