Help in my new Aqua One Nautilus 2700 filter? Flow direction and set up

Hi everyone, just need some advise of my new Aqua One Nautilus 2700
I am not really sure what's the flow direction of this filter ,
1. Water down from top to the bottom out to outlet / or
2. water goes down bottom first then pump back up to top and out like Sun sun HW
Any one know about that
I have a photo from the manual ,seem show water from top to bottom , does any one has any experience of the best setup
