HELP is my motoro ray going to make it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You will have better luck if you can find a captive bred ray. Unfortunately this one will not survive.
As stated, cover those heaters before getting another ray. They will work ok below the outfall of your filter, but you might want to move them lower so they aren't exposed at water changes.

Great advice Jason

Well during water changes everything is powered off so I don't think it's much of a problem I just have to find a way to cover the heaters also is a pacu a good tankmate for a arowana, a ray, a senegal birchir, and a black ghost knife or is that just a really bad idea and i should forget my dream of a pacu ?

Pacu get big, and from what I understand they get really aggressive if their tank is too small. I’d stay away from them unless you have a huge tank.

Mate if you looking at dish like that you want to be getting a bigger tank and sump. You just run into trouble with heaters in the tank with a ray and now you want to add a massive fish which could potentially smash a glass heater ?

And you guys were right I found him dead about 30 mins ago god I feel so bad and I saw his underside and it was all red so I assume it was heater burn so how would you guys cover the heaters so the rays don't get to them

What is your filtration?

My personal opinion is if your heaters are in the tank your not properly setup to keep a ray. The tank is probably to small and your filtration is probably not up for job. Please read as much info as you can on keeping rays before picking up another one.

Sorry for your loss.

Buy an aquarium heater guard. Google aquarium heater guard and you'll see what you need. Simple really

Sorry for your lose! Sounds to me, if i got the story right, that those koi probably made a few ammonia spikes in the tank and the ray couldnt handle it. koi and rays are not good roomates! all the advise about the heaters is True too! you also could get a piece of egg crate and section off the last 3 inches of one side of your tank and put All your filter inlets and heaters over there too! that would be a cheep way. I hope you have better luck next time!
