I have been applying liquid rubber for the first time and have a problem. I applied geo-cloth to the corners for reinforcing as the manufacturer recommended. I applied a layer of rubber first:

Liquid rubber painted seams

Then I put in the cloth:

Then I painted over the cloth:

This is my problem:

These wrinkles formed and I am afraid they they will ruin my sealing of the tank. Has anyone seen this before? What can I do about it?

I would get a nice sharp utility knife and cut out the bubbled area and apply LR over the area to level it out.

:iagree:
i would make sure to get those air bubbles out, don't need one to pop under pressure.

OK - butchery time :(

BTW - they are not bubbles, they are wrinkles in the cloth.

Maybe I should just put a small patch an the end of each one and paint over it

my dad is a roofer and I've run into this same issue several times when working side jobs with him. Typically it's with webbing and plastic roofing cement (aka bull, masitic, etc) the trick is to get one edge of the sheet stuck and then run the trowel from that spot towards the edges, this smoothes out all wrinkles and gives a good coverage, it takes practice to not pull the sheet at the same time but if you slow down and take your time it's not too bad. for next time I'd definetly recomend practicing on a flat surface and then trying to do it with corners.

for this time i'd personally cut out the corners and redo them. I'd worry bout the now rigid fabrick creating sharp edges when cut and causing a pressure leak that only shows up when the tank is filled.

This is a sump for my 265gal, not a tank. Thought I'd make a sump first as a practice run before attempting a tank. Won't suck as much if I mess it up.

Don't you think the wrinkles could ruin the sealing of the tank?

No, I think you will be fine leaving the wrinkles in place and moving ahead. Just make sure you put several coats of LR over the areas. I brushed the LR on my tank and ended up with about 10 coats on the seams and 7-8 coats on the flat surfaces. If you are using a roller be careful not to thin it out too much.
