help little worms in the water?

I agree, they are planeria. They usually thrive from overfeeding and deep gravel. I have had them in my Oscar tank once. My wife and I were both feeding the fish and not telling the other, and the Oscar was really messy. They are harmless and can provide food to tiny fish or fry.

I removed more than half of the substrate, it was medium aquarium gravel about 3-4 inches. I left just enough to cover the glass. I also told my wife that I will feed the fish unless I am away on business. They disappeared after that. Since then I have switched to sand or aragonite in my tanks. For me gravel was a pain, I could vaccum 2-3 times a day and never seemed to get enough out.

You can also try switching to foods that dont break apart when wet. My oscar would always chew on some pellets and spit them out. Really messy.

Google www.evolution.berkely.edu and search for planaria or do a googlr image search for same and you will find some decent images of them. If that isn't it try doing an image search for microworms.

i dont think its planeria because there not in the gravel they wiggle around in the tank with the current. what else could they be?

Planaria will live in the gravel, then squiggle around in the open. The don't seem to swim freely just to go for a swim but swim to the surface, that is how most people first spot them. it could be that they ran out of food and are looking for a new spot or that something disturbed the gravel.

I've have this same problem in one of my tank for a long time now... but its a bare tank, and all food has always been eaten up and i do water changes too... how come i still have these white worms floating and swiming around?? They seem to swim to the walls of the tank and bunch up together on top of the glass. But My fishes never seem to be in any harm by them.
But i still wanna know how to get rid of them.
