I had a look at the wet/dry filters and damn they look confusing...does any one want to explain to the noob how they work and the whole how many times would it cycle my tank in an hour thing? Found one here: http://www.thereefshop.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22&products_id=670
is it the same thing? and what else is needed to run one?

search this forum for almost endless posts on it. And check some of my back posts from the last couple of weeks.

Turn over depends on bio-load and if it's a planted tank or not (actually a part of the bio-load matrix)...1x - to over 10x are possible with your tank size.

Keep us posted on what you do :D.

just to let yas all know the following.
the dude lives in brisbane. sumpa are not big here i have only seen 2-3 running. ac110are virtually non existant and the only hob filter is aquaone and there crap.eheims are expensive way to expensive and let alone tryna find some. the way we regard sumps and hob filters here is oh yeh there using them in america there pretty big other there. i was talking to my custom aquarium manufacturer and ask him about a 20 foot aquarium and he said that the glass height cant exced 3 foot because he cant get stronger silicon and i ask what about a playwood or concrete and he said oh thoose i had a mate try and build one. they starting to use them in america. we have half the tech you guys have. co2,fbf's,denitrators,hob's, sumps, calcium rects, micron filtas,t5's are all very expensive over here and i only have seen 1-2 outlets sell them.
