they just had their second batch of fry and the male is killing the female what should i do?

do you have a second tank you could move the male to? also, what size tank are they in now? I'm guessing the tank is too small for them and that's why he's being so aggressive. the best thing to do right now though is move the male or put in some kind of tank divider. :)

if possible remove the babies. that will calm him down

no second tank and there in a 30 gal

I wouldn't remove the fry...that may make the male want to spawn again and then he'll harrass the female even more. my other suggestion would be to put in some type of cave that has an opening only big enough for the female to get into. that will at least give her some place to go where she's safe from the male. :)

i think i'm gonna just get another tank and remove the female

mmm... Get a divider in there if you havent bought a new tank already, they'll patch things up eventually. Plus a divider is good for any future problems that may come up on the "fly".

if they still have the fry and you get the second tank up, I'd remove the male not the female. imo the female would be better left to care for the fry. the male may or may not care for them as well as the female would. plus I think that would help later on when you try to reintroduce them to each other. imo you'll be better off adding the male back to the female's tank instead of the other way around. if you keep the male in the tank and then reintroduce the female later he will probably still bully her. if you keep the female in the tank, then she will establish herself and become more comfortable and therefore should be more likely to stand up to the male when you reintroduce him. plus the male, being the new fish, should hopefully be a little more laid back. :)

i took the female out and the male started eating the fry but only the new ones from the second batch not the first...so i took the male out and put the female back in
