I was thinking of getting a reptile or amphibian, but I am not sure what to get. Is there any that you don't have to feed it bugs? I've kept both reptiles and amphibians before and used to buy alot of crickets, but I don't care for the smell and also don't like when some crickets get loose. Let me know what you think I should get.

Well, there's a pretty wide variety of herps that do not require insects. Most snakes, obviously, eat only rodents.

Here's some other suggestions that primarily eat prepared food or vegetation:

green iguanas
uromastyx
blue-tongued skinks
crested & gargoyle geckos (only as adults...babies do eat insects)
most tortoise species
box turtles
ornate wood turtles

Also, in case you didn't know, crickets aren't the only option for insectivores. Many of the "worms" (most are actually beetle larvae) don't hop around and escape easily, as well as the smell factor isn't as bad. These include mealworms, superworms, waxworms, night crawlers, and red wigglers. So if you didn't mind these little crawlies, then your options open up tremendously.

Snakes or tortoises id go for.
Dart frogs dont need crickets, but you probably wouldnt enjoy cultivating fruit flies either. A thought though

I would shoot for a Ball Python oe a Boa. The BP will stay a nice small size and be easy to handle and the Boa will reach an impressive yet not "to Big" a size and are known for how easy they are to keep. And both are also known to have docile temperments.

I would avoid Iguanas and tortoises. They both need a TON of room and special care. But the rest of the options look great!

boa? which boa... so many species... wouldnt say they are all easy to keep at all.

Well for one, these animals dont stink. If kept improperly, and run around in their own feces all day then yes a smell and other things will happen. You should get a sand boa of sorts. Their neat.

He was refering to the smell of the crickets, I think.

If you're willing to go for something a little on the picky side as far as habitat conditions, I'd recommend a blood python. They're beautiful, impressive, and big (but not too big) and they've got personality. Most CB don't turn out to be the unruly monsters that the original wild-caught specimens have made the species out to be; mine is just a big lazy sweetie.

Really, unless you don't know what you're doing, you can't go wrong with a blood python:)
