Congratulations on going from 12 to 15 in just a few months time. Pretty impressive!

Very impressive!! May even be a first for mankind lol

I agree with the others. As long as you live under your parents roof you gotta just go with what they say. When you move out, you can do what you want.

Yep your parents house so it's their rules. MFK is such a dedicated hobby it's not ideal to be living with parents unless they are fish nuts too lol you are better off getting some more manageable beasts until you have your own money and space.

Bigger isn't always better with fish, only tanks :)

Sorry didn't read the op and just assumed it was fish related, my bad!

Dude don't you have enough pets already? Lol

I also side with your parents you have plenty of pets. If you aren't happy with what you already have then you aren't going to be happy with a Tegu it will always be another thing, and then another, and another. Many adults haven't learned this yet. Your parents may be trying to teach you this.

If your current pets smell, it's a sign that you are not keeping up with the ones you already have, and the last thing you should be thinking about is another pet to not care for properly.

If you are not able to maintain the pets you have already, you may in fact be faced with letting go of some of them, until your collection is at an acceptable level of maintenance for you. (Otherwise they wouldn't smell.) You obviously have too much to take care of at this point, so, sorry - Parents 5, You -3

I've never heard of a tegu fish...

if you can't even follow the ONE instruction for posting in this section, I'd very much doubt your ability to care for a lizard, there's many more than just one instruction for caring for reptiles.

It seems like you are nitpicking on him, I means its not like he went to the catfish sections to talk about his clown knife. There is a guy on the General section talking about bichirs even though the polypterus section is almost as active as the General. The reptile section isn't as active, so it would be better for answers if posted here. And FF isn't really talking about the lizard, he is talking about convincing his parents to get a lizards (which doesn't require tegu experience).

Now there is no way I would let you get a tegu. This isn't even about if you are responsible (I'm giving the benefit of the doubt), for me it would be about finances. I mean the elctric and water bill for the tanks, the lights and heating and feeding and calcium supplement for the 2 beardies, and the guinea pig expenses (I don't know these). I would have to pay for all of these and you still want more! And it's not even a small animal it is a dog sized lizard! Lizards can't even be trained like dogs (not saying they cant be trained, but they haven't evolved for thousands of years next to humans either), and they don't eat kibbles & bits either.
There is no way in hell I would let someone with all those pets and isn't even paying for it, get a dog sized lizard.

Hey guys, just to let you know I do currently pay for all my animals. The only thing my dad buys is food for the 220 gallon. And that is completely voluntary... He likes that tank just as much as me! And I have been downsizing my tanks for a month now... I used to have 25 or so tanks but now I am down to:
1x 220 gallon Monster Tank
1x 20 gallon Jewel Cichlids
1x 40 gallon RTCxTSN
1x 30 gallon high black ghost knife
1x 40 gallon growouts
Then of course the beardies and guinea pigs.

And my dad is a somewhat hobbyist to.... He has a 75 gallon planted community with congo tetras rainbows electric blue rams and hundreds of assorted schooling fish. He kinda got me into the hobby... My mom thinks fish are "neat" :D

Fish tanks do not smell... Just the bearded dragons... I found out why... When they pooped they walked through it and got it all over them... So whenever they would jump up on the glass it smeared EVERYWHERE. Not a pretty sight... I am gonna give them a bath.

And I do have a job... Pizza place phone order taker. Been there for awhile...

And VERY important to note that I only wanted a 90 gallon for myself. In fact i was at a store with cash in hand and my dad told me not to get it because he wanted a way bigger tank. So after a few weeks of craigslist searching i find my current 220 gallon for $200 and my dad splits it even and tries to tell me that it was on him and he would pay the full price! So we basically "share" the 220 and he helps buy stuff... But i pick (mostly) all the fish and do all the water changes... I helped him build the canopy and sump. And hw does all of this by CHOICE because he is a fish lover to! :D

So you pay for every single one of those tanks and all of their expenses (beside the 220 food) and the expenses for the beardies and guinea pigs AND you will pay for the RTC's place when it reaches size? All with a pizza job. And you have an extra room for the tegu's enclosure? I highly doubt it, but I have seen some weirder stuff.

I also do random odd jobs. Just shoveled snow for 2 days straight last weekend (we got like 16-20 inches+ in MD) with a snow blower and made over $700... Only downside is that i slipped on ice and am currently on crutches. (And before you say "medical bills" i did not go to the doctor i just use crutches i already had...)

And the enclosure I plan to build will be 8x5... I may need to get rid of the RTCxTSN if i get a tegu because I honestly can not see myself caring for both large animals... That or get rid of ALL my smaller tanks.

Mods, please do NOT close this thread. I wish to answer these peoples questions and explain myself 100% honestly on here. I want to clear my name because people always get the wrong idea about me because I am different.

Why everyone giving this kid a hard time, to be honest pal your better off giving the bearded dragon a bath and maybe cleaning the enclosure, ignore what other say, they will just put you down.
