Im looking for a single beautiful specimen to go in my 80 gal. I want to go as large as I can. With that in mind, I have been thinking along the lines of a true red terror (buy 6 juvies from Rapps and keep the best one), or a flowerhorn because I like the thickness and color. I am trying to stay away from the common jag, rd, oscar. Are there any suggestions that I may not have though of yet???

An Oscar is extremely hard to beat when it comes to cases like this.

Oscars are too common.

If your gonna go big, do flowerhorns. Oscars lose their nice solid markings and colors as they age.

They sure don't lose their colors, and their personality makes up more than anything out there.

With flowerhorns, if you DO get one, get one that has matured, otherwise you won't really know if you're getting a beautiful fish, or something that will look drab.
MANY FH's look very ordinary (Trimac like) If you are really specific about what you want as far as beauty, you should let us know and we can help better.
