Of the three filters you list the AC110 would be the best choice.

Maybe save you credit slip for something else. Save up some cash and get a decent canister or look into building a wet/dry sump.

Its lfs credit so no ebay they do have fluvals but they want way too much for them so they have the penn plax cascade seris for cheaper people like me

I would say Canister but Penn Plax always comes across as a cheaply made brand to me. I would avoid it personally.

How about the Marineland C series canisters? Do they have those? They are pretty good and might run less then the Fluvals.

I wish they had those they only carry fluval and penn plaxx they do have pequin hob but I like the emp and 110 better I might wait a bit get a 405 or sumthin.

I'd rather have a canister. Fluval 404s are $85 shipped on ebay, not much more than an AC110. I'm not impressed by my AC. I've got an AC50 which is dead silent, the AC110 is much noisier.

thats weird, exactly opposite for me. my ac110 is much quieter than my 2 ac50s and ac70

my penguin 200 on one of my takes is way quieter, all my penguin HOB filters have been quieter, however, i like the ACs design and bio capacity. penguin is pretty good but ill stick with my acs for the cheap parts and reliability

AC110 or Emp 400. Both are good. Given a choice, I would get the AC110

i have two pen 350s on my 75 and i like them. they rarely act up but i will say that they do sometimes. i just ordered two ac70s off ebay to try on another tank because i like the fact that you can get parts and media almost anywhere and because a lot of people praise ac's on here so i figured i'd try them. as for your question i'd go with a canister, ime you can never go wrong with a nice canister.
