Help me decide!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah a pond upgrade is gonna come. those are just temporary
well the tub is.
also prob gonna raise it for awhile in a reptile tank i have. will have to move the rabbit out but reptile wins. lol.

Dwarf crocs are cool, but really expensive. The major issue with your cage isn't the size, it's the lack of water. Even the current pools are too small for anything other than a small dwarf caiman. Crocodilians should have a 1:2 land to water ratio (except dwarf caimans, especially P. trigonatus). The enclosure itself has enough space for a bigger species, but you need to upgrade the pond portion.

These Laguna basins might be a better fit if you want a larger species...http://www.lagunaponds.com/lagunaeng/basins.php

yeah i dont really have too much intrest in the dwarf croc. i did have some but not too much. i know i place to get some nice big ponds for cheap!! but thats a future upgrade. its easy enough to upgrade. gonna stick with dwarf caiman. after seein ur pics of ur caiman im startin to think about schnieders.
how active is he?

Schneider's aren't super active, they spend most of their day in burrows in the wild. Mine sits under a cork log all day long. At night he'll start wandering around. It's a trade off for the small size. On the plus side, they need the least water of any crocodilian.

then schnieders is startn to take the lead. lookin at adult pics of them they look the best and young picks also look the best. i loooove the pointed neck plates.
wonder how she would do with turtles? lol
i built a little table as a burrow and have some vined plants to place on top.

Get a decent sized one too, otherwise it's gonna be a empty cage lol...hell you could get a few of them and have a "caiman pit", you could even mix species with some of the Cuvier's dwarfs.

Turtles are a mixed bag, caiman's not too likely to eat them if they're bigger than it's head, although losing a head or leg is possible. Also, turtles can bite the toes and tail-tip off the caiman.

yeah gotta watch for that

I know you're doing croc(s) but that would be a sweet monitor enclosure...

lol. nope, sorry its for a caiman.
anybody have any idea of what other plants to add?

id go with some various fruit trees and pothos so you can eat bananas while you clean the cage lol
