Help me decorate my 300

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love your fish!! I am a huge fan of black on black as you probably know. I think its the next best thing to bare bottom tanks(which I don't like) because it really brings out the colors of your fish. coupled with good light bulbs your fish look awesome.. I think what ever you choose though will be incredible.

thanks for the replys everyone, we are switching the tank out too so it will have a complete makeover. I'll be sure to keep you posted, and keep the suggestions flowing:D

Drop several driftwoods randomly into the water and arrange river stones without really looking at what you are doing. I find that ramdom landscaping accomplishes the most natural and pleasing effect!

BTW, I think white sand brings out the fish's color and brightens the tank because it reflects lights off from the bottom too. I notice the difference whenever I replace dull colored substrates with the white pool filter sand.

river stones like angeladay. Also agreed with pinoys input that you cant really have too much decor as it will be an obstraction for the monsters. I would get a large piece of driftwood that has 3 "legs" spread out somewhat evenly over the tank. This would give a dramatic effect that the tank is part of a "river" and would really look cool without hampering the space.

i would do river rocks 1-3 inch on the bottom a few larger river boulders in there in the sides and a nice larger piece of driftwood in the center that would look real nice and natural with a couple plants

A good piece of driftwood ,make sure you soak it in a bucket for a while. Also change the water till the waters nice and clear. Check different LFS till you find a great peice, for a great price. Flagstone- you can get at local brickyard, cheap and make some big low caves at one side of the tank. Your fish are big, dont put very many planets in beacuse they need space to swim. The jag will love the caves. It will be home away from home  for him.

Good Luck!

another thought im doing this in my 90 i bought gauged slate home depot or a mason supply yard will have it the box i got was from my work its 10 square feet of different sizes and differnt colors red green black and purple im laying the bottom of my 90 with them and using flag stone and terracotta pots for plants its like a bare bottom but not a bare bottom
