Help me find these sinkers. (banana trolling)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well it would have to be 3 seperate molds. And one shot a peice.

See with using a bondo mold you have to keep the heat down or they burn/melt away. And having 12 ounces of lead in one mold at the same time will severly shortent there life span.

Ok that works for me. I was just looking at the molds I have and they have multiple sinker spots for different ounces. Whatever you think will work best, I just know that I can't find these anywhere and would love to keep using them. Or hope that I don't get a snag or never have my line snap..highly unlikely!
If you can help me out that would be great hybridtheory!!

OK well I was running the idea past my inventor of the bondo mold (my pops) and he didn't think that bondo would hold up to 5 ounces of molten lead for very long at all. His exact words was ( you might get 10 shots out of that mold.):(

I would disagree because we have used them successfully for pouring up to 2 ounce jigs and the bondo held up to around 200 or so shots before it deformed enough to matter.

So I would think you could do the same with a 5 ounce sinker if you were dipping it in cold water to cool between shots.

So it is up to you.
We can do it, no problem at all.

But there is no guarantee that it wont mess up on the first shot. As I have never poured more than 2 ounces of lead into a bondo mold.

just let me know.:)

its close to a lead we have in the UK called a Wye lead (banana shaped with an eye at each end) we use them for spinning with big spoons in freshwater as they stop line twist.

only ones i could find were on ebay

Those are very close to what I am looking for. I am going to check and see if a store on the west side of town has them, or to see if they can get them for me. It is hard to find lead sinkers around here because people have switched to using the dipsey divers.

if u wanted a mold.. why not just go to a machine shop an have them make u a alloy mold. that would last a life time

I'm just going to wait on it. We are pounding the walleye on just about anything you put on your lines, it was a cold summer so it took along time to get them down to my section of the lake. Now that they are here it has been a lot of fun!
Thanks for the help everyone
