Regular tiger shovel nose. What size tank is it in now?

Can't even imagine my little TSN growing that fast.. he lives in a 65 gallon tank with 2 bichirs one silver aro and 2 oscars probably gonna have to send it soon to my pond.. do you think he could live with a dwarf caiman? The caiman should grow up to 5 feet.. BTW I'm getting a 400 gallon tank by the end of this year, hopefully this can house the aro, oscars and bichirs cause the TSN is going straight to the pond!

Oh depending what your feeding it. It will. What's the diamensions on the 400? You could let it grow in the 65 it you get the 400 move it there then the pond. I would say the bigger the better cause the caiman might take a snap at a 1'-2' tsn maybe even a 3-4' one. You never really know with those guys. I had a 2.5' dwarf caiman that was raised on veggies.

220cm long x 100cm width x 70cm height which i think is about 95 inch L x 40 inch W x 27 inch height.. if you think i should rearrange the measures please tell me as i can still change my mind since it's a custom tank, thanks.

That's prefect leave it just like that and you could keep it in that tank up to 3' witch could take up to 3years or so to grow.

depending what species he is he can grow either very fast or very slow to 24" but should hit that in 24-36monthes =) wonderful fish... and as others said.. a predatory catfish.. ime my pure tsn is far more predatory then my hybrid is so don't keep anything with it your not in love with, because there is always a chance of predation. I found keeping my big cats well fed w/ plenty of space goes a long way to avoiding tank-mate predation ( knock on wood I have yet to lose a fish to my guys but know its entirely plausible)

Hello, just got this catfish last week, looks to me like a shovelnose but what type? Can someone help please, thank you.. as you can see he's been eating a lot! lol

Welcome to the forum!

The kind is tiger shovelnose, TSN for short, but TSN is a genus of 9 species. Which species is yours will likely only be known when it reaches ~2' or more as his coloration pattern will continue heavily developing until then.
