thanks, keep us posted on your progress. i would really love to see the offspring. these are my first FHs & i'm hoping they pair up. right now it seems my male FH is interested in one of my Jack Dempsies since my female is still a juvinile.

See I was about to post a thread about the possibility of getting a hybrid between my Kamfa and one of my fem jacks. Ever heard of one? What about jack dempsey and carpintis?

i have not heard of a cross between a FH& JD but it's probably been done before. there is another FH forum about crossbreed FHs & other fish. i haven't breed any fish yet but would like to hope my JDs, FHs or Red Oscars pair up. if they do i have a seperate tank to take them out of my 220g show tank.

They won't be red if you cross a regular blue colored Texas to a kamfa cause the Texas has zero red in him I've seen it done a few times, the only true way to get a red Texas and its not even a red Texas cause a Texas cichlid isn't even used its a pearlscale cichlid(green Texas) to a super red shock flowerhorn, the green Texas who is accually not from Texas has red in it already so its much easier to get red offspring

Or breed two red texas. Friend of mine was able to pair off two and get fertile eggs after some patience. Small batches generally but they all grow up and turn red.

Hold on.. you said "..the only true way to get a red Texas and ITS NOT EVEN A RED TEXAS.." u lost me there. And then u say a Texas isn't even used to create a Red Texas? How come? And I know for a fact that green terrors won't cross with any central american cichlids. And the Green Texas is from the same Rio Grande just a different area and does spreads out into Texas territory or else why would it be called a Texas cichlid? Plus the Green Texas doesnt have ANY red to it as far as I'm concerned.
The true Red Texas comes from the mix between a Blue Texas and a Blood Parrot Cichlid or a Red Devil or a Red Terror or a Kamfa. The main difference is the shape you get and the tone of reds. The only way to get the blue speckles is thru a Blue Texas. And the red will be up to you. Then once you have both LUCK will do the rest. You'll have a very few really red ones with blue speckles, a lot of undesirable looking ones, a few ones that are orangish to red but without speckles, a few that look just like a regular BT and a few that look just like a the other cichlid u mixed em with. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Here are some pics of some green texas for you and from a Kamfa. Where else could you get a redder fish for the mix?

You will find Flowerhorn x Jack Dempsey as well as some other Flowerhorn hybrids on this thread. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...-Cichlid-Hybrid-Example-Thread-(Load-Warning) To get to it via the app go to the Flowerhorn section and look for The Big Cichlid Hybrid Example Thread under stickies. Also if you planning on crossing those Oscars with anything but other Oscars nothing will come of it.

Many things wrong with this post. For starters Red Shock are not Flowerhorn. It is possible to obtain "Red Texas" from crossing fading fish (Parrots, Red Devils, Midas, Fader Flowerhorn, ect) with with H. Carpintis or Cyano, most fish from the batch will not carry the fading gene and not considered Red Texas but a small amount will carry the gene and will be considered. Its also possible to get Red Texas by crossing full body Red Dragon Flowerhorn but much harder to pull off.

Your fish a Kamfa Flowerhorn also known as the PK Flowerhorn strain. Segrest Farm sells this strain of Kamfa to Petsmart, some Petcos, and some local stores as "Red Texas" even though they are not. Its rare to see actual Red Texas come from these places when they are being sold to them from Segrest Farms. Take a look at this thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...Store-Red-Texas-Red-Texas-or-Kamfa-Flowerhorn

Here's the Kamfa pic I was talking about. That's where you get the best looking RED TEXAS from. KAMFA and GREEN TEXAS/BLUE TEXAS. "Blue texas arent always blue and Green texas aren't always green, but both have the speckles which is what you need to get the Red Texas pattern.

Can anyone see both in these examples of Red Texas? See how the pattern is one of a Texas but the red is from a Kamfa? no other fish posses this type of red. Even Blood parrots are very rarely truly red they're mostly dark orange.View attachment 848683Red_Texas.jpg
