pearlscales huh? i'm so glad i checked here because I've been feeding flakes but my filter pushes the flakes down to the bottom and middle part of the tank where they feed. I'll get sinking pellets today. thanks tons guys

quick follow up, can they eat betta bites? is that the same stuff?

its deff pearlscale goldfish....if you want to see pics of bigger ones you can google it im sure....goldfish will eat just about anything but as far as for the tank any pellet type food would be better....

I believe the actual name of the fish is a pearlscale ryukin. Dumb As nails fish, but can be fun none the less.. this going into your 60?
nah, i put them in an eclipse (probably 10 or 12 gallon i would imagine) with a male betta i have. everyone seems to be getting along fine so far. only been about 12 hrs, so i'm gonna keep an eye on them. the betta seems sorta scared of them, he goes up for inspection then backs off. I dont want him to get stressed, and I know the tank is gonna be too small for them in no time flat, but until then, I'm tired of a whole tank sitting empty cuz my male betta hides until someone walks by. :irked:

They might need at least 5-10 gallons per fish when they grow (This statement is based on reading, NOT personal experience)

Don't keep them with a betta, the temperature requirements don't match. Keep them with some butterfly loaches instead and move the betta :headbang2

You'll find hillstream loaches prefer powerful flowing waters than a stagnant water. Dojos are much better options assuming the tank is spacious enough to accommodate them.

ive seen hillstream loaches in the wild and they were in a small pond with very little if not any waterflow. there were about 20 of them in about 1square metre. i also have one in my planted tank which does not have very much waterflow and it has been there for 2 years.
